Scholé: Greek for "leisure" pronounced: |skoh lay|
Peninsula Classical Scholé is a homeschool co-op centered on a christian classical education - taught in a restful way. How is that?
Great books are explored for depth rather than quantity. Discussions are centered around deep thinking. The goals are seeking truth, goodness, and beauty rather than checking-off lists. 'Ah ha!' moments are hoped for and are the target of our learning.
Science labs, national exams, and developing solid college transcripts are thoughtfully considered during the planning of the curriculum. The work is rigorous, but hopefully paced for depth, not merely productivity.

A student's parent is still his/her main teacher. This is, after all, homeschooling! 'Parent instructors' help guide the students through the learning material in class on co-op days. There are predetermined teachers for each subject and level of study (not a rotation). A parent of each student is required to be present on co-op days. This fosters a community of moms helping each other navigate through their educational journeys. The Lunch Break provides an opportunity for delightful conversation and encouragement. Won't you join us?
Conversation
Our hope is to provide opportunities for students to encounter truth, goodness, and beauty at home and on co-op days. As they have these encounters, we want to hear about them! Students are encouraged to think deeply about what they are studying, journal in Commonplace Books, and share some of those thoughts on co-op days through rich discussion and unique peer presentations. This allows "iron to sharpen iron" Proverbs 27:17.
Statement of Faith
As a Schole Group, we adhere to the Statement of Faith here: http://scholegroups.com/statement-of-faith/.
Additionally, we believe that the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms, as well as the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith, accurately summarize the system of doctrine taught in the Word of God. Those documents constitute our complete statement of faith. The following is a concise reiteration of a few of the important doctrines explained in the Confession and Catechisms: A. Scripture We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, verbally inspired by the Holy Spirit, inerrant in the original writings, and the final authority in faith and practice. B. God We believe in one living, sovereign, and true God, existing eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, co-equal in power and glory, and having the same essence and attributes. C. God’s Purpose We believe that the eternal purpose of God includes all events; is holy and wise; does not deprive man of responsibility, nor make God the author of sin. Before the foundation of the world, God the Father chose for Himself in Christ a people whom He gave to His Son that they should be holy and without blame before Him. D. Sin We believe that all men are sinners, because Adam and Eve, their first parents, were tempted by Satan, disobeyed God’s command, and by their own choice fell from their original state of innocence and fellowship with God, and came under the power and penalty of sin. All men fell in Adam, being sinners by imputation and by choice, separated from God, and under His condemnation. E. Christ We believe that Jesus Christ was born of the virgin Mary, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit. He was both fully human and fully divine. He lived a sinless life, died a voluntary substitutionary death to save His people from their sins, and was raised bodily from the dead and exalted to the right hand of God the Father. F. Salvation We believe that all who are born again by the Holy Spirit receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ and are justified on the grounds of His shed blood, not because of any works they have done. They are indwelt and sealed by the Spirit until the day of redemption, are secure in Christ, and together form the true Church. G. Return of Christ We believe in the personal, bodily, and visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ to judge the world, the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, the everlasting punishment of the lost, and the everlasting bliss of the saints. H. Marriage Marriage is to be between one man and one woman, in accordance with the Word of God. I. Image Bearers So God created man in His own image, male and female he created them.
